This is an ongoing, privately booked, workshop for individuals and workplaces.

The Definition of Ergonomics is:
an applied science concerned with designing and arranging things people use so that the people and things interact most efficiently and safely

This workshop is the ergonomics of arranging the body you inhabit so that it interacts with the way you live and work in an efficient and safe manner.
Creating furniture and work items to enhance our working experience is a great start to healthier bodies, but the biggest difference will come from people understanding and utilizing their physical bodies to their best ability.

Using the idea of ergonomics you will learn to use (arrange) your body in and around the objects of your work space (or home) so that the way your body interacts with your environment is healthy and supportive, rather than stressful and depleting.
Not everyone can go out and buy a new chair or desk, especially if it involves purchasing one for every person within an office. Maybe you love the shiny new computer you have, but now that you have introduced it to your work space it doesn't love you back. How do you sleep, work, relax, play? Even the way you use your phone can affect your body if you are not considering the ergonomics of how you connect with this object.

A large segment of us spend a good portion of the day at work or working. The rest having to take care of home and family. Do you stand all day or have to sit? Are you in a vehicle for a large portion of your day or having to walk? Do you wish sometimes you could drop your chair out a window or do you go home with an ache in your knee or your low back. Do you spend time daydreaming of having your own personal masseuse following you around?
You don't have to suffer through your days. The expectation need not be that you are going to have a headache, backache, knee pain and you will just learn to deal with it.

If you would like to align your body with your intention of being happy with how your body feels as you move through your days let's talk.

If you are within the Vancouver area I can come to your office or work site. We will walk through the areas you spend your time in, I will watch how you and your body interact with your environment and then help you to rearrange how your body uses the objects within this space. We will also look at how to use other objects you already own to help create these adjustments. For example, scarves, books, boxes, pillows...... You will also be given a few simple movements and stretches to incorporate. You may be surprised how quickly things change.

Never assume you have to "live with it". Instead Live Well!

Sessions can be schedule from Monday to Friday (please call for times). Some Saturday sessions may be possible.
 

Length of visit will be determined by how large a space we will be working within, how many people we will be focusing on and how many areas you would like to work on.

Office visits Starting at $150 + gst per hour. Investment increases with number of individuals to "design and arrange". If your office/home is outside of the central Vancouver area rates may vary.

Ocean Breath  200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training can be taken:

As the full 200 Hours for those who intend to teach.
Yoga Alliance Certification received.
As 2 x 100 Hour Modules.
The first 100 Yoga Foundations for those who may or may not want to teach but would like to deepen their understanding of the practice
These modules can be taken back to back or the second module at a later date as long as it is within 2 years of the Foundations. The 2 together will provide you with Certification
The first 100 Hour Yoga Foundations Program is only a personal training program. This will give you a deeper understanding of your practice, but will not provide you any teaching certification. It will however give you a fundamental base of knowledge to continue on to become a Teacher.

The 100 Hours will consist of:

  • History of Yoga
  • Philosophy: Yamas, Niyamas, 
  • Asana practice and theory.
  • Fundamentals of Pranayama
  • Meditation Instruction
  • Guidance with Personal Practice
  • Practical Anatomy
  • Journalling
  • Chakras and Energy Body
  • Mantra

The Second 100 Hours will focus on the Techniques, Qualities and Practical abilities required to guide students through safe, empathetic, well rounded classes.

This 100 Hours will consist of:

  • Arriving at "the Seat of The Teacher"
  • Finding your voice as a Teacher
  • The Language of Teaching
  • How to Apply Anatomy to the unique bodies you will encounter
  • Fundamentals of Anatomy
  • Exploring and building your Empathetic Abilities
  • Hands on Assists - When to touch, when not to touch.
  • Intro to Biotensegrity and Fascial connections
  • Practice Teaching on Each training day
  • Applying the Ethics of Yoga to your Teaching
  • The Business of Yoga
  • Awareness of other core segments of teaching. (i.e. Prenatal and Postnatal, Yoga for Aging, Restorative and Yin intros.)

    There are 20 non contact hours required which will be dedicated to readings, practice sessions with your peers, and practicum hours.

This is a Teacher Training with a Hatha, Yin, and Breath awareness focus. Training is limited to 10 students in order to ensure that each student is able to have space for inquiry, to practice teach and to have time with the instructors. Classes will be weekly for the Foundations, some Friday nights, full Saturdays and full day Sundays and biweekly during the 100 Hour Seat of the Teacher to ensure time to immerse in materials learned. No classes over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Participants will receive a pass to attend classes and will be provided studio space to practice teach with peers and friends at Ocean Breath Yoga. Practicum time will be required of each student before certification.

** Please note this is not for students who think 200 hour training is a quick way to just do something. This is a commitment to you and your future students. This gets you to base camp. The real journey begins afterwards.

The 100 Yoga Foundations is for those who may or may not want to teach but would like to immerse in a more meaningful practice.

This is also the first module of the 200 Hour Teacher Training the second module can be taken at a later date if the Yoga Foundations speaks to a deeper need to teach. The 2 together will provide you with Yoga Alliance Certification.
The first 100 Hour Yoga Foundations Program is a personal training program. This will give you a clearer understanding of your practice, but will not provide you teaching certification. It will however give you a fundamental base of knowledge to continue on to become a Teacher.

This Immersion is a Program based on the Foundations of Yoga

Nature Bathing: Connecting with the Healing Transformative Power of Nature

In the '80's Japan formulated a term and an activity called.....Shinrin-Yoku.......Forest Therapy, the medicine of simply being in the forest. The Japanese practice of forest bathing is proven to lower heart rate and blood pressure, reduce stress hormone production, boost the immune system, and improve overall feelings of well being.

In Japan and Korea the practice of Forest bathing is a national strategy for health.
It is understood through the study of and practice of ShinRin Yoku that immersing in nature in a mindful and meditative manner is a sure way to reduce stress and connect to numerous health benefits.
What they have found and many communities and cultures before them is that if one visits an area in nature and walks in a calm manner, without and end goal, but simply to be within the experience, some or many of the following benefits may be achieved.

Examples: 
Lower Blood pressure
Reduced Stress
More ability to be present and concentrate.
Improved sleep
Lower Anxiety
Boosted Immune system functioning.

Join Beverly for a guided movement through nature. The time will incorporate any or all of the following: Breathwork, awareness practices, silent walking, mantra and sound within nature, gentle movement, controlled moments of sharing and journal time. The idea of Nature Bathing is to become comfortable with doing and accomplishing nothing. To just BE within the moment.
DIfferent sessions will invite in different "experiences".

If joining in please be prepared to either leave your phone at home or turn it off for the duration of the afternoon. Dress appropriately for the weather with good, comfortable walking footwear. We will go rain or shine. The only thing that will cause cancellation is an absolute monsoon or wind storm that makes it dangerous to be in the trees.
Location will be either Lighthouse Park or Stanley Park. Decided closer to the date.

What you may need:
Comfortable walking shoes that are able to walk on rocky or uneven areas.
Appropriate clothing and extra layers if the weather is changeable.
Small comfortable backpack or bag with the following -
Water (please no plastic throw away bottles)
Food if you have not eaten (no noisy wrappers or throw away plastic containers please.)
Hat if the weather is bad
Maybe a small towel or blanket to sit on if it is not raining heavily.
A journal and pen.
Things that make you happy (i.e special totem...rock, picture, food, etc) to gift to Mother Nature/Gaia/PachaMama/Lakshmi. 
Your intention to "accomplish nothing" and just be.
