This is an ongoing workshop for individuals and workplaces.

The Definition of Ergonomics is:
an applied science concerned with designing and arranging things people use so that the people and things interact most efficiently and safely

This workshop is the ergonomics of arranging the body you inhabit so that it interacts with the way you live and work in an efficient and safe manner.
Using the idea of ergonomics you will learn to use (arrange) your body in and around the objects of your work space (or home) so that the way your body interacts with your environment is healthy and supportive, rather than stressful and depleting. You may not be able to go out and buy a new chair or desk, especially if it involves everyone within an office. Maybe you love the shiny new computer you have, but now you introduced it to your work space it doesn't love you(r) back. How do you sleep, work, relax, play? Even the way you use your phone can affect your body if you are not considering the ergonomics of how you connect with this object.

You spend a large portion of your day at work or working. Do you stand all day or have to sit? Are you in a vehicle for a large portion of your day or having to walk? Do you wish sometimes you could drop your chair out a window or do you go home with an ache in your knee or your low back. Do you beg everyone for a shoulder rub when they walk by?
You don't have to suffer through your days, wishing you could buy that $5,000 chair that promises you will feel like you are hanging out in a hammock.

If you would like to align your body with your intention of being happy with how your body feels as you move through your days let's talk.

If you are within the Vancouver area I can come to your office or work site. We will walk through the areas you spend your time in, I will watch how you and your body interact with your environment and then help you to rearrange how your body uses the objects within this space. We will also look at how to use other objects you already own to help create these adjustments and incorporate a few simple stretches.

Never assume you have to "live with it". Instead Live Well!

Sessions can be schedule from Monday to Friday in the afternoons. Others times possible.
 

Length of visit will be determined by how large a space we will be working within, how many people we will be focusing on and how many areas you would like to work on.

Office visits Starting at $150 + gst per hour. Investment increases with number of individuals to "design and arrange". If your office is outside of the central Vancouver area rates may differ.

You can stand for so many things in life but when was the last time you thought about standing up for your own health? Your ability to move through life with confidence and balance?
What about sitting? Have you heard that sitting is the new smoking? Have you made a choice to never sit if you can help it? But what happens if you stand all day? Could it be that too much of anything can change something from Good to unbearable?
Yes there needs to be balance in both, but what will change things even more, is learning how to do these basic activities with knowledge and awareness.

In this program you will learn to .....that is correct.....STAND UP, SIT DOWN and WALK.
I hear you.... "What the heck do I need to learn about sitting, and My gosh, I already know how to stand and I walk everywhere." Wonderful! But do you do any of this effectively? How often do you trip? feel your knees, your hips? your back? When you stand, is gravity pushing you down or holding you up? Have you ever said or heard someone say "I think I'm shrinking"? 
When you sit, do your shoulders ache, your back twinge, your knee get painful (usually just one), has a headache become your new normal?
Just like you breathe every day unconsciously, so too you sit, stand and walk without considering the effect not being aware of your body can have on your overall well being.
Find YOUR body's ideal position, its stance and then find the walk that will guide you through the day with balance and ease.

What you will learn:

A general idea of your physiology, and how pelvic floor health is a basis for all structural health.
To be balanced and aware of how your body moves and positions itself.
How to better utilize your muscles and connective tissue to reestablish proper body mechanics.
To move from your core body and align your axial skeleton.

What you will need:

Each person should come equipped with
-Something resembling a strap (belt, scarf or strong cloth will do)
-A small hand towel or something of similar size. Could be a sweater or soft jacket. The shoes you normally would wear for walking or standing in.
-If you have a large book handy it would be useful (if you own a yoga block that would work fine as well)
If you book your session in the studio there will be props there for you to use, but it is still good to learn how to use everyday items.

200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training with Ocean Breath Yoga School located on Granville Island, Vancouver, BC

Ocean Breath  200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training can be taken:

As the full 200 Hours for those who intend to teach.
Yoga Alliance Certification received.
As 2 x 100 Hour Modules.
The first 100 Yoga Foundations for those who may or may not want to teach but would like to deepen their understanding of the practice
These modules can be taken back to back or the second module at a later date as long as it is within 2 years of the Foundations. The 2 together will provide you with Certification
The first 100 Hour Yoga Foundations Program is only a personal training program. This will give you a deeper understanding of your practice, but will not provide you any teaching certification. It will however give you a fundamental base of knowledge to continue on to become a Teacher.

The 100 Hours will consist of:

  • History of Yoga
  • Philosophy: Yamas, Niyamas, 
  • Asana practice and theory.
  • Fundamentals of Pranayama
  • Meditation Instruction
  • Guidance with Personal Practice
  • Practical Anatomy
  • Journalling
  • Chakras and Energy Body
  • Mantra

The Second 100 Hours will focus on the Techniques, Qualities and Practical abilities required to guide students through safe, empathetic, well rounded classes.

This 100 Hours will consist of:

  • Arriving at "the Seat of The Teacher"
  • Finding your voice as a Teacher
  • The Language of Teaching
  • How to Apply Anatomy to the unique bodies you will encounter
  • Fundamentals of Anatomy
  • Exploring and building your Empathetic Abilities
  • Hands on Assists - When to touch, when not to touch.
  • Intro to Biotensegrity and Fascial connections
  • Practice Teaching on Each training day
  • Applying the Ethics of Yoga to your Teaching
  • The Business of Yoga
  • Awareness of other core segments of teaching. (i.e. Prenatal and Postnatal, Yoga for Aging, Restorative and Yin intros.)

    There are 20 non contact hours required which will be dedicated to readings, practice sessions with your peers, and practicum hours.

This is a Teacher Training with a Hatha, Yin, and Breath awareness focus. Training is limited to 10 students in order to ensure that each student is able to have space for inquiry, to practice teach and to have time with the instructors. Classes will be weekly for the Foundations, some Friday nights, full Saturdays and full day Sundays and biweekly during the 100 Hour Seat of the Teacher to ensure time to immerse in materials learned. No classes over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Participants will receive a pass to attend classes and will be provided studio space to practice teach with peers and friends at Ocean Breath Yoga. Practicum time will be required of each student before certification.

Next 200 Hour Training starts September 16th - December 10th, 2017
100 Hour Yoga Foundations for anyone immersing in practice.
-September 16th to October 22nd.
100 Hour Seat of the Teacher for students continuing on to be certified as Teachers or Certified Teachers wanting to receive more training on functional, empathic teaching.
-October 25th to December 16th.

200 Hour - Anyone looking to become a Yoga Teacher or wanting to be able to guide others through practice. Must have at least a practice that has been consistent for 1 year or with instructor permission based on a "interview".

** Please note this is not for students who think 200 hour training is a quick way to just do something. This is a commitment to you and your future students. This gets you to base camp. The real journey begins afterwards.

100 Hour Yoga Foundations: Immerse In Your Practice or 100 Hour Seat of the Teacher

The 100 Yoga Foundations is for those who may or may not want to teach but would like to immerse in a more meaningful practice.

This is also the first module of the 200 Hour Teacher Training the second module can be taken at a later date if the Yoga Foundations speaks to a deeper need to teach. The 2 together will provide you with Yoga Alliance Certification.
The first 100 Hour Yoga Foundations Program is a personal training program. This will give you a clearer understanding of your practice, but will not provide you teaching certification. It will however give you a fundamental base of knowledge to continue on to become a Teacher.

This Immersion is a Program based on the Foundations of Yoga

The 100 Hours will consist of:
